ROBERT TRONDSEN began as a still-life painter before shifting his focus to landscapes. Vivid recollections of his childhood countryside and subconscious experiences of the natural world serve as inspiration for his luminous scenes, as featured in his solo show Waking Dreams. A studio painter rooted in contemporary techniques, Trondsen draws on the aesthetic of the Hudson River School and the Tonalists. This melding of traditions produces a unique combination, modern atmospheric work of ethereal mood and contemplative repose.
