CHRIS J. T. DIXON (b. 1962) grew up on the Connecticut shoreline, where he developed interests in the rich history and beauty of Long Island Sound and the Southern Connecticut River Valley, a favorite subject for the impressionistic painters of the Old Lyme artist colony. Painters of that time period, such as Childe Hassam and Willard Metcalf, continue to inspire Dixon with a variety of visual interpretations of familiar landscapes.
Chris was graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 1987 and completed the school’s fifth year program in 1990, with a concentration in landscape painting. He went on to study illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and plein-air painting with George Strickland, John Budicin, and Matt Smith, artists from the Plein Air Painters of America.
Chris is an elected member of the Lyme Art Association and the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society.
